Castillo signs two year contract

Castillo already here, still waiting for Ailton!


On the last day of the transfer season, Red Star capped two major signings. Segundo Castillo, a standard member of Ecuador’s national team, has already joined our club, while later tonight we are expecting the arrival of the celebrated Brazilian striker Ailton.

According to our sport manager, Stevan Stojanovic, Castillo plays the same position in the back of the midfield like our departing captain Nenad Kovacevic whom he is
expected to replace. Kovacevic has already signed with the French team Lens.



Segundo Alexandro Castillo was born on 15th May 1982 and he is 180 cm tall and weighs 76kg. His team was El Nacional while for the national team of Ecuador he has appeared 14 times, scoring one goal. He signed a contract for two years.

Throughout the entire introduction ceremony at the club’s Media Centre, Red Star’s newest addition could not wipe off the smile from his face. He says that he has already tasted some Serbian specialties which he graded as excellent. He was frank in saying that until yesterday he knew next to nothing about Red Star. Nevertheless, he is thrilled with the warm reception here.




“I wish to prove myself in Red Star, to play well and win as many trophies as possible”, said the Ecuadorian who has yet to choose his jersey number.

Stevan Stojanovic confirmed that Ailton was to arrive in Belgrade around 10 p.m. His official promotion has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday. In his career, Ailton has played, among others, for Schalke, Werder and Hamburger. One year he was the top scorer in Bundesliga.

“We have ironed out the last contract details with Ailton’s previous club, the Turkish FC Besiktas, and with Ailton himself and we are planning an official introduction tomorrow”, said our sport manager.

The Brazilian international Ailton has been officially promoted today as a new addition to the FC Red Star’s team roster. The experienced forward has signed a two-year contract with Red Star and, according to the President Stojkovic, with this acquisition the team roster has been completed for the this year.



“We brought in a huge reinforcement to our team. I am happy that we succeeded in bringing in a very high quality player who would enhance the quality of the entire team. We were doing our best to provide adequate replacements for the departing players, and we succeeded in our effort that that should make our fans happy. I believe they will enjoy watching Ailton playing for our club; he is ready to play and when it will happen is coach’s decision”, said Stojkovic.



The Brazilian ace said that his decision to join Red Star was based on his desire for new experience and new challenges.

“I knew that Red Star is a great club and many things about them I learned from Serbian players who play in Germany. My desire is to play well as I did when I played in the Bundesliga and also to win some trophies. For me this will be a new experience and a new challenge. One of the reasons I came to Red Star is the great atmosphere at the Red Star’s stadium which I have chance to see by watching some of the Eternal Derby games”, said Ailton who also had offers from other clubs.

“During the past period I practiced individually and I am certainly not in the best shape. I would like to join the team as soon as possible and to begin with practice sessions in order to get ready for real games. Thus, I cannot promises now how many goals will I score during this season”, said the Brazilian who will spend first several weeks in Belgrade alone and then he will be joined by his wife and children who live in Mexico.
